Dear tiny self, six-year old Pat,
When you first held the pencil and decided to write poetry and not just ABCDE, you had no idea that would be the one thing that would give you peace in this life. After learning of flamingos and Lake Nakuru, you wrote a poem. Your very first poem, of thousands to come. Over the years, you have written, many lost to the memories of the universe, some lost in the books of old friends and acquaintances. Your first too was lost, but still etched to memory, one never forgets their first, do they?

You were never one to be permanent, as a friend or as a love. You sprinkle your magic as words and like a silent thief disappear. That’s the magic you possess, which started with you, darling six-year old Pat. You loved to read and write, write more than read. You found rhymes and puns witty and clever. You loved to confuse people with words, and how you loved to taunt your archenemy with big words from the dictionary. Words always amazed you.

Darling six-year old Pat, for once, a piece of work survived two years. Oh, yes, aren’t we surprised? All the works destroyed by our own hands over the years. Burnt down because people wanted to see them so much. Oh, yes, selfishly guarding the little treasures from humans so undeserving. Burning or deleting because they don’t deserve to be seen. Yes, we have a blog. It has survived two years and it’s thriving. Our thoughts maybe etched on a tiny corner of the internet.

Fifteen-year old Pat wanted to live forever. Maybe this is a way for her to survive forever. We’re no Shakespeare, but we do what we can in these times. Dear six-year old Pat, we discovered dark poetry, dark academia and the darkness and coldness of the world. However, as cold as we may have it, we try to spread some warmth and some hope through our blog.

Darling six-year old Pat, you’d be proud. Twenty-two year old Pat writes amazingly. She reads her work and smiles. No second-guessing herself. She’s proud of her work. Darling six-year old Pat, she writes for you because she knows you’d have wanted to be a writer when you grew up. Words were always there to be written.

Darling six-year old Pat – hear hear.
Darling ten-year old Pat – (you were reading novels and story books too much- nothing much for you, the vocab though)
Darling fifteen-year old Pat – the two novels you wrote and burnt were the bomb (esp the one on ykw)

Darling eighteen-year old Pat – What’s wrong with you and passwords??? We lost so many backed up works because of you.
Darling twenty-year old Pat – Thanks for starting this particular blog after many were lost and deleted. The angst you had, I know it’s healed. This blog has been the best thing we’ve had. It’s our way of shedding some light to a dark universe.

Darling twenty-two-year old Pat – Here we are, let’s do it better this year, yes? As we return next year for the third, let’s have some solid stuff to show!!!

Happy 2nd Anniversary
