COINCIDENCE VS FATE, MANIFESTATIONS AND LIFE

Of recent days, life has been odd. Yes, odd for lack of a better word. There are those โ€œseasonsโ€ when so many things happen in such a similar manner that you start to question life. This tends to be both in the positive and negative. Life can decide to be so good and then it can also decide to be so bad. What exactly is this that happens? Is it just life being life, is it fate playing with the repeat button, is it simply coincidence or what is it?

When I think about coincidences, I recall one particular conversation I had with my dad (this man is my best friend). He told me that there are no coincidences, neither are there accidents. Things happen in a certain manner because they were fated to. This brings me to my first thought:

FATE- Fate by definition is the occurrence and continuation of events beyond someoneโ€™s control, as predetermined by a supernatural power. Fate goes by many terms, destiny, circumstance, doom, fortune, luck, portion and my personal favorite, kismet. If there was a truth meter here I would tell you that I never used to believe in fate. Thatโ€™s because to me it was just another term abused by the soap operas and the romance stories that I did not believe in. However, that was when I had a superficial understanding of fate. See, fate is not about happily ever after, or life-long miracles. Fate is seen at hand even in the smallest of occurrences. Recently, a friend told me that it seems some aspect of my life that I had been running from my entire life is catching up and holding on to me. Truth be told, it isnโ€™t such a miracle or big deal, but it made sense not in the Jonah being swallowed by a fish aspect, but in a whole different way. Fate is all in all a beautiful thing, because, I believe it is the thread by which every little thing and every one of us unwinds.

Madam Fate, smile my way.

COINCIDENCE- Coincidence by definition is simply an extraordinary and remarkable occurrence of events without any definite or apparent connection or link. Other names for Mr Coincidence are accidents, chance, twist of fate, serendipity, fluke, and happenstance. When we came to this, my dear father and I had quite the squabble. My dad was saying that accidents never happen, that things happen because they were fated to, we just donโ€™t see the cause. Sometimes the cause is apparent, but we choose not to see it and other times it is just not for us to see. I was a believer of coincidences. I always thought that nothing could really plan for every little thing. It was probably a coincidence that I picked up some 500 Ksh in a bus when I had misplaced 300 in another different bus, right? (It probably was, or maybe the universe refunded my lost money and added in some extra coins for the trauma I had faced. Iโ€™m kidding if you lost your money in a bus, it has nothing to do with me). All in all, I have been doing some reading, and happenstance is not just happenstance. Things do not just happen out of the blues. Maybe Jonah and the fish are indeed real (Do not crucify me, also, Jonahโ€™s wife relax, he really was in a fishโ€™s belly for 3 days and nights).

MANIFESTATIONS- A beautiful friend has recently been teaching me on the importance of manifestations. Itโ€™s all a matter of asking or rather telling the universe what you want and the universe bringing it to you. Manifesting confuses the brains out of me. Hear me out. We say we believe in fate, then we manifest and maybe our manifestations arenโ€™t in line with fate. So, does fate twist itself and rearrange itself to fulfill our manifestations? My thought is, if you really do ask genuinely and seek actively and work for what you believe you want (manifesting) then it does come to you one way or the other. An alternate thought is that fate, in all her glory sat down and fated you manifesting and so that is why you are manifesting because fate wanted you to manifest so that fate can fulfill your fate? It does make more sense you have to admit.

Dear Universe…..

LIFE- I am still searching for the meaning of life. As old as I am, I am yet to discern on the entirety, the beauty and the very essence of life. I do believe though, that all these little things, coincidences or not, manifestations or not, are a part of the complex framework called life.

Life is beautiful so why donโ€™t you go on and enjoy it to the fullest.

Think about it, food for thought.
